Programme for 2009-2010 has now been finalised

The programme for 2009-2010 has now been finalised. As with the previous year the emphasis is on 'Local' history.

October takes a look at the 'coming' of the Railway to Aslockton in 1850.

The November meeting is still awaiting confirmation.

'Managing the Parishes' in December looks at the work of the Parish Councils and Meetings of Aslockton and Whatton civil parishes through the Minute Books.

As usual in January there will be the New Year Social Evening.

February sees the return of Peter Hammond who takes a look at the Coroners Courts in 'Murder, Mystery and misfortune'.

In March, George Wilkinson will present his talk on the Maltings of Newark.

Nottingham Now and Then is the subject of the talk in April by John Clarke.

Don Crossland will tells us about Jesse Boot of Boots the Chemist at the May meeting.

The Funny side of patents, a talk by Mike Corby will occupy the June meeting.

In final talk of the 2009-2010 programme Graham Harper will look at the impact of the Enclosure Act on Aslockton.

The Annual General Meeting completes the programme on the 3rd August 2010.
