|The Village Feast|
The Village Feast was held here on Monday and Tuesday, and, as usual, a cricket match was played on each day - on Monday between Whatton and 'Ilkeston Rutland,' and on Tuesday J. Tomlinson's team (Whatton) versus J. Brown's team (Bingham). The local team was unsuccessful on each occasion.
Dinner and tea were provided each day by Host Tomlinson, Griffin's Head, in his usual bountiful style, and thoroughly appreciated by the players and friends.
An extension of an hour was granted to the proprietor of the inn, and the interval after tea (seven p.m.) until eleven o'clock was occupied by singing and good fellowship.
