Merry Company visits Whatton

A Merry Company on Monday visited this village, and spent a very enjoyable day.

The party was apparently made up of Nottingham factory workers, and no doubt they would derive great benefit from a day's outing in such an agreeable country spot.

The 'Griffin' was made their head-quarters, Host Tomlinson providing eatables, &c., on his usual liberal scale.

Various games were indulged in during the afternoon. These amusements were supplemented by a dance, to the strains of a couple of musical instruments.
